What is Coated paper (Art Paper)

Art Paper is one of the main papers used in printing plants and is the most commonly used paper in color printing.

Coated paper is actually a common name, and the formal name should be printing coated paper. Coated paper is mainly used to print high-end color prints such as high-end picture albums, high-end magazine covers, postcards, exquisite product samples, and color trademarks.

According to national standards, coated paper has four grades: A, B-Ⅰ, B-Ⅱ and C. Their glossiness decreases, smoothness decreases, and dust increases. In terms of whiteness, the first three grades of paper are all 85%. , C grade paper is 80%. Each grade is divided into single-sided and double-sided. Single-sided coated paper can be used to print calendars, posters, portable bags and other simple single-sided prints. Double-sided coated paper can be used in books, magazines and pictures.

(1) Characteristics of coated paper

①Double-sided coated paper

The paper surface is smooth and white on both sides, with high gloss and high opacity. After color printing, the bright color effect of the pattern is outstanding, and it is suitable for color printing. Suitable for general books, catalogs, calendars, posters, covers and other purposes.

②Single-sided coated paper

One side is coated and the other side is glued. Therefore, the paper is bright, smooth and uniform in ink absorption on one side. It is suitable for single-sided color printing and the back can be processed with glue. Suitable for release paper for roll labels, posters, and mounting.

(2) Quantitative

In terms of quantification, although the coated paper under national standards is divided into 70 grams, 80 grams, 90 grams, 100 grams, 120 grams, 130 grams, and 150 grams, the coated papers currently used in high-end color prints on the market are mostly Imported mainly, designers and customers are more inclined to import or joint venture brand coated paper quality, the weight of this type of paper is generally 128 grams, 157 grams, 200 grams, 250 grams, 300 grams.

Note: Coated paper includes glossy powder coated paper (commonly known as light copper) and matte powder coated paper (commonly known as matte copper). Coated paper is divided into single-sided coated paper, double-sided coated paper, matte coated paper, and cloth coated coated paper.
